Meet Pastor Chris Gorshe
My name is Pastor Chris Gorshe. I grew up in Denver Iowa in a family of five. Mom (Nancy) was a nurse. Dad (Mike) was a Warrant Officer in the Iowa Army National Guard. My sister Melissa is a cosmetologist. And my brother Joe works at Target Distribution. I am married to my beautiful (and incredibly supportive) wife Bethany who is an incredible stay-at-home mom. We have three children; Renatte (10), Asher (8), and Linley (5). We all love (Bethany to a lesser degree) our Blue Heeler puppy named Sophia. We also foster 5 siblings who range in age from 5 to 12. Yep, that's 8 kids in the house! Due to privacy laws I can't share information about the foster kids, but I can say that we really love them. Adoption is a possibility in the future, but God only knows when and if that will ever happen.
I graduated from The University of Northern Iowa in Spring 2003 and went directly to Concordia Seminary in St. Louis MO for summer Greek classes. During my vicarage year I spent a year in Steeleville, IL. After graduation from the seminary my first Call was to a church in Cohasset, MN. I served at Our Redeemer in Cohasset as Associate Pastor for 4 years and Senior Pastor for 3 years before receiving the Call to serve in Riceville in the Spring of 2014.
For a very short month in college I was an opera performance major, so I like to sing. I am a member of a Barbershop group called The River City Chorus in Mason City, IA. I also play guitar (I am very big on the preschool circuit!) I collect vintage postcards from Iowa as well as religious cards. I am thoroughly addicted to coffee. I like to garden. And I can make balloon animals.
I look forward to meeting you if you are in Riceville sometime. The members at St. Peter's would love to welcome you in worship and share the love of Christ with you!
Here's a song I sang in my previous church...
...and two other songs from my previous church.
